Formally a 3D animator, Wee Hoe joined academia in mid 2004 to teach and develop multimedia courses in Kuala Lumpur University (UniKL). After teaching for 3.5 years, he left UniKL for Sultan Idris Education University and then pursed a PhD at University of Warwick for three years. Towards the end of his doctoral study, he began to work as a consultant in the game industry. He involved in the game coaching system design of the FPS Trainer project in Dundee, UK and the game-based learning system design of the KNeoWORLD Project in San Francisco, US. He was the Director (2015 - 2017) at the UPSI Education Research Laboratory, before going to Singapore University of Technology and Design as a visiting Fellow and then going to Penn State University as a Humphrey Fellow. He is an accreditation panel of Malaysia Qualification Agency, a certified Level 3 MATRIZ practitioner and certified Level 1 MyTRIZ Trainer, advisory panel of Malaysia Game Development Cluster, and the Vice Chairperson of Serious Games Asia Society (based in Singapore).
